Episode# 34 MICHIGAN IS BLEEDING #1: A Michigan Punk Compilation
February 6, 2010
Beezy will probably go deaf before he listens to this mix of bristling, pissed-off Michigan punk songs. For the rest of you this is just a taste of the fury that was put to wax by Michigan bands during the earliest years of punk straight through the 80’s.
It would cost you a small fortune to own all these records, but this mix is free. FREE!

I haven’t listened to Brotha Lynch Hung since like ‘95. But damn, I gotta say this video and track are dope.

Yes, This Is Real
February 2, 2010

The dude above is Leon Botha, visual artist and DJ. He is from South Africa, Capetown to be exact, and in case you are wondering, his condition is called Progeria.
Leon has had his artwork displayed in numerous exhibits throughout South Africa. See pictures of his artwork and press/media coverage.
I saw the above clip a couple months ago, but thought that it was just some Q-Bert & Yoga Frog ha ha jokey-smirk video. (I wouldn’t put it past Q-Bert to do something like that.) It wasn’t until Matt’s post below that I finally realized that, “yes, this is real”, and decided to look into this further…
Someone Please Tell Me This is Not Real
February 2, 2010
Die Antwoord (“The Answer” in Afrikaans I believe) is apparently a real trio of white rap-ravers straight out of some twisted 90’s nightmare. Their music is pretty catchy but then (as a bonus?) you get the dude MC’s junk flopping about in Pink Floyd shorts. (The video below explains it all).
Digging the future beats? Can’t stop laughing? Your eyes aren’t bleeding? Alright, you asked for it:
Oh and they have a website here.
Seriously? You are still watching?
You are sick you know that?
Here, try to keep this out of your nightmares.
Go Go Music
January 31, 2010
I know that we have all heard E.U.’s “Doin’ Da Butt” song a billion times, but most of my early exposure to Go Go was through rap music (just like a lot of other types of music). I can remember hearing Go Go in early rap songs by Salt ‘N Pepa, Doug E. Fresh, Dana Dane, and Kid ‘N’ Play. Check out this quick little video on Go Go music:

I always wondered where Black Sheep got the samples for that song…
Episode #33 – Beezy’s favorite songs of 2009
January 21, 2010
We had some audio problems with the podcast that was supposed to be uploaded today, so instead I am giving you a mix. As an extension of our “look back on 2009 podcast” I made a mix of some of my favorite songs that were released in 2009. I hope you enjoy.

Funky Beat

Cause funk ain’t nothing but a four letter word, that’s often smelled but seldom heard.
This clip reminds me of two things. First, my childhood. This was around the same time that I first heard rap music. Drum machines and bass guitars… it doesn’t get any better than this! And second, is Bangtown. When we were talking about Bangtown and funk in the first Flint Episode, this is what we were talking about!
