I am sure many of you have heard about Esperanza Spalding winning the Grammy for Best new Artist. I am shocked and happy about this. One of the rare times the Grammys got it right. Although I did not include it on my list, “Chamber Music Society” was one of my favorite albums last year. I hadn’t heard of her until Giles Peterson played her on the BBC, and then I came across her record at Dusty Groove. It is a beautiful album, and if you don’t have it (which I am sure you don’t) then you need to go pick it up.
Oh, and a month or so ago Q-Tip announced that he is producing her next album.
