Every year around this time, I get in a weird mood and make another Let’s Get Together mix. I edited a lot of these songs, did my own “stereo mix” of the Marvelettes track, and beefed up the drums in David Bowie’s “1984”. Tracklist and more after the jump!

You guys really need to watch the first “Police Story” movie. This is probably Jackie Chan’s one and only serious, straight up action movie. And that first scene with the cars going down the hill is insane!
I also have a bunch of stuff in the mix from “Black Belt Jones”. Check out the first three minutes of the movie. The song is called the “Main Theme”, and Detroit’s own Dennis Coffey did the track.
I knew about Martin Circus for their disco classic “Disco Circus”, but I didn’t know anything about their earlier work. Here is the video for the song “Je M’Eclate Au Senegal”. Dudes are monster, but I still love the song.
Isaac Hayes did the soundtrack and starred in the movie “Truck Turner”. Here is the part of the movie where the song “Pursuit Of The Pimpmobile” plays.
David Bowie performing “1984” live.
New Order doing “Age Of Consent” live. Shorts.
Tuomo doing the end part of “Don’t Take It Too Hard” live. Crappy video and sound, but you get the idea.
And here’s the video for “Don’t Take It Too Hard”. Dude is Finnish, video is shot in Tokyo. I don’t get it. Still love the song, though.
The trailer for “Bucktown”.
Kraak & Smaak’s “Squeeze Me” video. The verses are sung by Ben Westbeech, who is from the UK and signed to Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings label. Definitely check out Ben Westbeech’s album “Welcome To The Best Years Of Your Life“.
I bought “Ladies And Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains” on DVD awhile ago. Never saw it before. Never knew anything about it. The acting was sort of choppy at the start of the movie, but I got over it very quickly. I would strongly suggest seeing this movie. Dude’s from The Sex Pistols, The Clash, and The Tubes are in this movie. Also, a young Laura Dern and Diane Lane are in this movie. On a side note, is it me or has Diane Lane been hot forever!?! Anyway, here’s the trailer.
I first heard South London native Tawiah on Gilles Peterson’s show. She hasn’t really done much since her debut EP “In Jodi’s Bedroom“, but I still love this song. Here’s a live version of “Everystep”. Some of the sound is distorted, but it’s still good.
As a bonus, I put on M.C. Miker “G” & Deejay Sven’s “Celebration Rap” at the end of the mix, and I went with the acapella version because the chorus makes me laugh every time I hear it! I couldn’t find a video for “Celebration Rap”, but I couldn’t resist putting something up from these guys. You have to see them to believe them. Here is the video for their song “Holiday Rap”. These dudes are soooo damn monster!!! And they’re totally serious, too.
And if you’re wondering where you’ve heard the song “Holiday Rap” before, it might have been from this.
