Sleigh Bells-”Treats” Album Review

Treats is the best electronic hardcore pop album I have heard. But then again, I haven’t any electronic hardcore pop albums, and I don’t even know if that is how to properly categorize this.

Sleigh Bells is a duo out of Brooklyn (surprise) that consists of  Derek E. Miller (songwriter, guitarist, producer) and Alexis Krauss (vocals). Miller was the guitarist for some post-hardcore band that nobody cared about called Poison the Well, and Krauss was in some teen pop group that nobody cared about called Rubyblue.

Together they churn out a distorted electronic hardcore that is reminicsent of DHR tracks with Hanin Elias, only slower, prettier, and devoid of breakbeats.

The album is short (32 minutes), and starts off with strong with pounding, overblown drums and doesn’t let up until the 7th track, “Rill Rill”, which samples from Funkadelic, and brings the prettines.

This album is a straight up banger.
